Extra laundry and frequent kitchen use can make an existing appliance problem more noticeable. Start with what changed in the appliance’s performance instead of attributing every fault to summer weather.

Refrigerator temperatures and door closure

Measure the temperature, check that food is not holding a door open and leave interior vents clear. Follow the installation manual for ventilation space around the cabinet. Different refrigerators have different clearance and coil cleaning requirements.

Laundry loads and cleaning

Use the washer’s load and detergent instructions for towels, bedding and other bulky items. A load that does not complete its spin can leave the dryer with wetter laundry than usual.

For washer odor, clean the seal and drawer and use the cleaning cycle specified by the manufacturer. Avoid combining household cleaners or applying a recipe intended for another model.

Dishwasher cleaning results

Check that dishes do not block the spray arms. If your machine has a removable filter, follow the manual for cleaning and refitting it. Persistent poor cleaning, leaks or water left across the tub need further assessment.
